Its easy to be the bigger person.

Some say that it can be hard to be the bigger person when your kids are acting out. I have never seen it that way. For example, the other day my oldest was teasing my youngest, so to show I was the bigger person I pushed* them both to the ground so theyd know Im bigger than them (by a good 4 feet) and that I allways win!

*this story is complete fiction. I do not support or condone in part or in whole the pushing or shoving of children or anyone in genral that is smaller than you. ; p

This post is rated "AARRRRGH!" for fun content

So a quick follow up to the previous post. If the map ever looses its pull it may be time to pull out the big guns. All you need is a plastic cup, a popcicle stick, 2 sjeets of paper, string, glue sisors and crayons or construction paper (grey and black).
1-Draw and color a grey hook and cut it out. Attach it to the popcicle stick and stick it in the cup. Walla! you have a pirates hook!
2-Draw the front of a pirate hat and attach it to apaper hoop sized to your childs head for the hat. (this can be substituted with a bandanna)
3-Cut out a paper eyepatch and attach it to the string. BOOM! You have a pirate!
And if your too lazy for all that just print these. I havent checked sizes so you may need to tinker with the size in Gimp or paint. For those who are wondering what this "Gimp" I keep talking about is. It is a free photo editing program comparable to photo shop! Just click HERE to get it.

"Hunting" for some free time?

If you are like me, sometimes you just need some time to yourself with no kids climbing all over you. It was out of this desparation that I came up with the Treasure Map! This little gold nugget can keep your kids busy for an extra 1/2 hour of pure bliss! All you need is a paper and a pen. (or a printer if you are truly lazy) Now Im no picasso, but I still managed to throw together a pretty impressive treasure map that led them through landmarks in the home (its amazing what you can come up with for a moment of peace). If that seems too hard, just draw an elaborate x with dots leading to it. Throw in a couple of palm trees ocean and wrinkle up the paper to throw in that extra finishing touch if you feel so inclined. If you have a Dora the explorer fan puting a smiley face on the outside for when the map is rolled up will make all the difference. And if it ever gets old with your kids, just hide some suckers you get at the bank somewhere to re kindle the maps magic pull! For those of you who still think this is too much work I threw together a map in Gimp you can print off. Just left click the image and select "save image as", save it to your computer and print it.
